(Dayton, Tennessee) “It was one of the best matches we’ve ever been a part of,” said Lady Cats Women’s Volleyball Head Coach, Tricia Goodwin.
In a re-match of an October 7 slugfest, Georgia Northwestern could not repeat the three-games-to-one match win this time around. The Bryan College Lady Lions JV squad would stretch the Lady Cats to a fifth and deciding game in Dayton, Tennessee on their home court Wednesday night winning the match over GNTC 23-25, 23-25, 25-15, 25-20, 15-12.
“They had to win three straight to stay alive and beat us and that’s what they did. I’m not taking anything away from their win. Great match,” said Goodwin.
Freshmen Cats Cayce Gearrin (GPS) had 35 digs, Sabrina Garcia (LaFayette) had 19 kills and 26 digs, Cambrie Gustafson (East Ridge) pounded out 14 kills, and Leah Swanson (Ringgold) dished out 36 assists in the loss.
The season-finale for Georgia Northwestern takes place this Saturday at Georgia Tech as the Lady Cats take part in their invitational tournament. GNTC will face Alabama, South Carolina, and Georgia’s women’s volleyball club squads in pool play for a chance to advance to the elimination rounds.
