The 2011 EAGLE selection committee is proud to announce that Shavanti Hiles of Floyd County has been chosen to represent Georgia Northwestern Technical College at this year’s EAGLE Leadership Institute in Atlanta, February 9, 10, and 11. Delegates from every adult education program in Georgia, along with their nominating instructors and program administrators, will gather for the annual leadership training at the Hyatt Regency downtown.
All EAGLES (Exceptional Adult Georgians in Literacy Education) serve as ambassadors for the adult education programs they attended. The Leadership Institute provides further training in enhancing the effective use of adult education to further personal growth, educational attainment, safe and stable families, economic development, and community involvement.
Hiles, a resident of Rome, was nominated by Diane Elrod, lead instructor for Adult Education. Hiles earned her GED® Diploma and is currently enrolled in GNTC’s Patient Care Assisting program with a concentration in phlebotomy. Her future goal is to continue her education and become a registered nurse.
GNTC’s other EAGLE nominees for 2010-2011 include Melisha Porter, Chattooga County; Martin Palmerin, Gordon County; William Westbrook, Polk County; and Christian Dye, Walker County.
