Michael L. Fennell, Georgia Northwestern Technical College’s (GNTC) assistant dean of Industrial Technology on the Walker County Campus and program director of Drafting Technology, recently received a doctor of education degree from the University of Georgia.

Fennell began his career with GNTC as a drafting technology instructor in 2003. He was promoted to assistant dean of Industrial Technology in 2007 and was also awarded the Rick Perkins Excellence in Teaching Award that year. Fennell was voted by a group of peers to serve as the chair for the Northwest Georgia Area Consortia for drafting programs in 2007 as well.  

Fennell graduated from Georgia Southern University with a bachelor of science degree in Education, where he received the Technology Education Award on Honors Day his junior and senior years. He received his master of education degree in Technology Education from Georgia Southern University. Fennell serves on the Drafting Advisory Board for Ringgold, Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe, Dade County, and Ridgeland High Schools.
