Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) Aviation student Travis Smith was announced as one of the recipients of the Coastal Empire Professional Aviation Maintenance Association (PAMA) Scholarship on Saturday, March 26, 2011, in Savannah, Georgia.
During the 17th Annual Coastal Empire PAMA Maintenance & FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) Renewal Seminar, Smith was announced as one of the three Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) students in the state awarded the scholarship. Smith is the second AMT student at Georgia Northwestern Technical College to be awarded a scholarship since the AMT program began in September 2008.
The scholarship will provide the necessary funding Smith will need to complete the FAA Mechanic Certificate examinations (nine exams altogether – three FAA knowledge exams, three oral exams, and three practical exams) upon completion of the required curriculum regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The estimated cost of the nine certification exams, and value of the scholarship, is $1,050.00.
GNTC will be accepting new students to start the Aviation programs this August.
