Georgia Northwestern’s freshman duo of Alex Miller (Gordon Central) and Randy Boyd (Hixson) continue to make things happen on the North Georgia hardwood. Miller led the way with 22 points and Boyd added 19 and 10 boards in their NJCAA Region XVII game versus West Georgia Tech Tuesday night.

However, even though they held the lead most of the game, the Bobcats would have trouble successfully breaking a second-half West Georgia Tech press. The Golden Knights grabbed the road win, 84-72.Sophomore Bobcat Bud Todd (Trion) added 15 to the effort. Sophomore captain Matt Woods add six points and seven assists. West Georgia Tech (4-10, 1-0) managed to double up their six-point lead at the break with a similar effort in the second stanza against the host Georgia Northwestern Bobcats. The Bobcats would connect on 12-of-15 from the charity stripe on the night.Sophomore Golden Knight Demontray McCormack (Biloxi, Miss.) led all scorers with 27 points on the night.

Georgia Northwestern (5-6, 0-2) wraps up their play in 2011 with a two-day tournament at Covenant College. The Bobcats will play Friday night and Saturday afternoon at the Lookout Mountain college. GNTC tips off with Bryan College at 6 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats wrap things up with a game against Tennessee Temple at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
