Miller’s Big Night, Robinson’s 70-Foot Buzzer-Beater
(Macon, Georgia) – Just two weeks since round one of the Georgia Northwestern-Macon State series at The R.A.C. (Rossville Athletic Complex), the Bobcats hit the road for the rematch in Macon, Georgia Tuesday night.
The Cats won the front side of the set on January 25 by four, 69-65. The Blue Storm would manage to even the series up as they would stop Georgia Northwestern, 76-73.
The Bobcats (7-16, 0-6) got their first lead of the game just as the buzzer sounded at the end of the first half. 6-foot-5, 215-pound freshman center Jordan Robinson (Bryant, AL) would launch a 70-foot shot through the Macon State gymnasium and bank it in for the Cats first lead of the game, 40-38.
With the lead changing hands several times in the second half, the Cats would eventually fall behind by as many as 10 points. However, behind sophomore Alex Miller’s (Calhoun, GA) 23 points and 16 rebounds, the Bobcats would claw their way back into the game. It wouldn’t be close enough, though, as Georgia Northwestern would see the season-series with Macon State even up at 1-1.
Trion, Georgia native freshman Hunter Ivester would add 15 points and reject a trio of shots. Fellow freshman Richard Olsen (Calhoun, GA) would add 17 points in the road loss.
Georgia Northwestern will travel to LaGrange, Georgia Friday night to take on the Golden Knights in a rematch of their January 15 match-up the Cats lost in Rome, Georgia. The defending region champion Lady Cats will play in the opener Friday against the Lady Golden Knights. The winner of this game will have an inside track on the NJCAA’s Region XVII Post-Season Tournament’s top seed.
NJCAA’s Region XVII Post-Season Tournament takes places February 22-24 in Warner Robbins, Georgia at Middle Georgia Tech.
