Graduation Held November 22, 2013

On Friday, Nov. 22, friends and family gathered at the Conference Center located on Georgia Northwestern Technical College’s (GNTC) Gordon County Campus to honor the students graduating from the Basic Law Enforcement Day Academy.
During the ceremony, 16 law enforcement officers graduated after completing the 19 week course.

The keynote speaker was Dr. Lisa Beck, emergency manager for the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG). A science educator and health and safety officer for 30 years, Beck has served in academic programming for public health and public safety for the colleges of the TCSG.

“We want to make sure that you know that we are grateful to you, because you all made a decision one day ‘I’m going to become a law enforcement officer.’ You need to understand how grateful the rest of us are to you,” said Beck. “I thank you for the people in this community, for the people that are sitting in this room, for my family, and for me personally.”

Two graduates were recognized during the ceremony. Hannah M. Graham was presented with the ‘Top Gun’ Award for scoring the highest score on the firing range. Marcus Q. Hill was presented with the Academic (Honor Graduate) Award for having the highest grade point average.
