Georgia Northwestern Prepares For NC Trip, Warren Wilson Rematch

(Winthrop-King Centre, Rome, GA) – Lady Cats freshman forward Charron Woodley (Rome, GA) had her break out game as she lit the Winthrop-King Centre nets on fire with 19 points in Georgia Northwestern’s home win Wednesday night, 71-56. The mid-week win puts the breaks on a four-game slide for the reigning NJCAA Region XVII’s two-time defending champs.

Sophomore Kiarra Parks (Cleveland, TN) and freshman Alisha Bridges (Calhoun, GA) helped pace the attack for the Lady Cats (2-7) with 18 and 17 points, respectively. Leading all scorers on the night was Lady Scot freshman Alex Quimby. The 5-foot-5 shooting guard from Denver, Colorado racked up 20 points in the Covenant loss.

The Lady Cats have a chance for their first back-to-back wins of the young season win they travel to the Tar Heel State Friday night for a rematch with NCCAA program Warren Wilson. It was Georgia Northwestern’s last win before Wednesday night when they stopped the squad from Swannanoa, NC on November 14 in Rome, Georgia, 70-63.

Lady Cats Head Coach Jim Williams will have his squad head to Lookout Mountain, Georgia on December 12 to return the favor when they visit the confines of Barnes Gymnasium on the campus of Covenant College. Georgia Northwestern will be on a mad sprint as they now play five games over the next 13 days to close out the 2013 side of their schedule before heading into the Christmas break.
