Georgia Northwestern Heads To Thomaston, Face Southern Crescent

(The R.A.C., Rossville, GA) – Sophomore guard Hunter Ivester (Trion, GA) led the charge Monday night at the Rossville Athletic Complex (R.A.C.) as Georgia Northwestern pulled away in the second half to stop Covenant College, 70-52.
Up only three at the intermission, 30-27, the Cats quickly pulled away to nail down the win. The Scots came as close as eight points, but could not force their way back into the game.

Ivester, a NJCAA All-Region Second-Teamer scored 14 points, pulled down nine rebounds, and had a pair of steals in the effort. Fellow All-Region standout Tavish Reynolds (Calhoun, GA) went three-of-six from beyond the three-point line leading to his 11-point performance over the Scots JV.

Georgia Northwestern (6-10, 1-3) heads to Thomaston, Georgia Friday night in hopes of picking up region win number two as they head into a rematch with Southern Crescent (2-13, 0-3). The Tigers, losers of five straight, lost to the Cats at The R.A.C. on January 13, 58-52. The NJCAA Region XVII Tournament will be held at Williams Gymnasium on the campus of Emory Oxford in Oxford, Georgia on February 22-24.

The Bobcats are 3-4 in January and can claw their way out of the month with a .500 mark with a road win on Friday. Georgia Gwinnett comes to The R.A.C February 4 to kick off a four-date home stand at the top of February.
