One of the world’s leading manufacturers of computer networking equipment recognized Georgia Northwestern Technical College this week for 15 years of certified teaching of CISCO technology.

CISCO Systems, Incorporated designs, builds, and sells networking equipment. Georgia Northwestern’s Walker County Campus, since 1999, has been a part of the CISCO Networking Academy. Students across Northwest Georgia and beyond have taken CISCO classes within the college’s CISCO Networking Specialist curriculum. The college offers classes in computer networking year-round.

GNTC offers a certificate in CISCO Networking, as well as degrees and diplomas in Computer Support Specialist, Networking Specialist, and Internet Specialist Web Site Design. CISCO provides training around the globe for technician certifications through the CISCO Networking Academy. The technology giant offers similar partnerships in more than 65 countries worldwide.

Dr. Dwight Watt, an instructor of 30 years within the Technical College System of Georgia, is the program director of the CISCO and Computer Information System programs at the Walker County Campus located in Rock Spring, Georgia. Watt holds multiple certifications within his field, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Winthrop University. Watt also holds a Doctorate of Education from the University of Georgia.

Georgia Northwestern offers classes in more than two hundred programs offered on campus or online. GNTC serves Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Floyd, Gordon, Murray, Polk, Walker, and Whitfield counties in Georgia with campuses located in Floyd, Gordon, Polk, Walker, and Whitfield counties.

Approximately 16,000 people benefit from GNTC’s credit and noncredit programs, making it the largest college in Northwest Georgia and the fifth largest technical college in Georgia.
